POST 8: A SUBJECT YOU'VE ENJOYED STUDYING THIS SEMESTER

Hello everybody! Today I'm going to talk about my favourite subject this semester which was "Dinámicas de la Administración Publica Chilena" or in english Dynamics of Chilean Public Administration. 

This semester this subject was mostly theoretical and we only did two reports. In the synchronous classes the following topics were described and/or taught: 

• State Administration (distinction between political system, political regime and form of government).
• Chilean public administration. 
• The regulatory and entrepreneurial role of the State. 
• Structure of administrative organisations at central, regional and local level. 

The topic I liked the most was the last one, as it presented the local administration (Municipalities). They talked about the internal organisation of these, the ways in which they were financed, the concepts of administration and government were distinguished, among other things.

I really liked this lecture because it taught me to distinguish concepts that are usually confused such as political regime and form of government. Also, they gave us key information to understand the functioning of the regional governments that actually administer the region, as they do not have the power to govern.

 POST 7: A CAREER RELATED WEBSITE THAT YOOU ENJOY VISITING

Hello everyone, today I will talk about a website that from my perspective is related to Public Administration, the name of the page is: Fundación Observatorio Fiscal which you can access through the following link: https://observatoriofiscal.cl/

The website has a user-friendly interface with five sections at the top; get informed, participate, projects, get to know us and donate. The first section contains information on national, regional and municipal budgets. The second section contains information on the foundation's existing participation bodies. The third contains information on public procurement, both at central and municipal level. In the fourth, we are given an overview of the Fiscal Observatory Foundation, what they do, what their objectives are, among others. Finally, the "donations" section is for people who access the website and want to make a contribution to do so through established and secure channels. 

The frequency with which I access the website is low, about once a week. I really like this site, as it provides clear information on spending, budgeting and purchasing, both at central and local level (the latter is not always paid much attention to).

To this I must add that they have an account on Instagram (social network that I use regularly) and this makes them even closer to the citizens. 

BLOG POST 6: HOW CAN YOUR MAJOR MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE

Hello, as you know I am a student of Public Administration. I decided to study this because I wanted to help people by taking care of public administration. 

This is why I believe that my career affects the world in a positive way. Because, we are in charge of first, studying the feasibility of a public policy and, second, implementing public policy decisions into reality. In this implementation phase, we are in contact with citizens and listen to their perception of the institutional response adopted. 

How do I see myself in this process? I see myself as a professional able to face and solve last minute challenges, I also consider that my skills will allow me to become an agent of change who likes collaborative work. 

Why is Public Administration a contribution to the world? First, because we specialise in the management of the state apparatus and our academic knowledge gives us the perfect balance to develop this activity. 

Second, because we have become an agent that detects the problems that need to be solved by the State and its institutions. 

Thirdly, because it is a career in which the vocation for public service, i.e. helping others, is predominant. 

 

 POST 5: ¿Qué historia hay detrás de esta fotografía?

Hello friends, today I'm going to talk to you about the photograph that is above hahaha! Why is it important to me? Because it was a work for visual arts that cost a lot to make (the process was very long) maybe the result is not the best (it wasn't very nice hahaha), but the effort to make the work and what it represented was great. 

I'm very interested in this image, because I really liked the picture I made back then, it was very basic, but nice (too bad I couldn't keep it). 

Now, there's not much to tell about this picture, just that it was a picture that I painted with some classmates in the fourth grade for the visual arts elective, which, contrary to what you think, was very fun and easy, the teacher was fantastic! We had to draw and paint something that represented us as a group and we wanted to do a sea turtle with some flowers and a bird (which you can't see in the picture) to represent that "the road to bloom and be free is slow but in the end you always reach your goal".

POST 4: My favorite food

Hello, my friends, today I will tell you about the food I like the most. 

It is complicated to choose something that I like, because it varies throughout the year. 

But, at the moment the food I like the most is noodles with white sauce and mushrooms. I enjoy this meal very much because it is not a usual preparation at least in my house and it is very delicious. 

To prepare the tagliatelle with white sauce and mushrooms. You need: tagliatelle, mushrooms, white sauce, oregano and salt. In a frying pan put the mushrooms, white sauce and oregano, while in another container prepare the noodles and when they are ready, pour the sauce and let it rest for a few minutes. After this, enjoy!

I really enjoy this meal because it is easy and quick to prepare for how good it is. 

But, not everything tasty is good for your health. Because, pasta is a bit harmful to your health especially triglycerides so you should avoid eating it every day.

Post 3:  MY FAVORITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY

Today I will tell you about my favorite technological object. It is a difficult topic because there are so many devices that we use today: notebook, cell phones, wireless headphones, among others. 

But I can say that my favorite gadget are wireless headphones, this are headphones that connect to smartphones or other devices without wires! That is fantastic!

I always have it in the mornings or when I want to listen to music which is my favorite activity of the day. I use it daily to listen to music and sometimes to watch classes. 

This piece of technology is important to me because it has been incorporated into daily activities and makes me feel happy. 

It would be difficult to go back to using wired headphones because they didn't allow you to move around with ease when using them like these do. 

I hope they don't disappear! The only problem is that the battery drains very fast! 

Hello, today I want to tell you what I'm studying and why did I choose this career. I'm studying "public administration" because it's an interdisciplinary career that I am passionate about and allows me to be a contribution to society. 

When I was 6 years old I wanted to be a veterinarian, because I loved and still love animals so much. But, with the time I realized that you need more than love for animals to be a veterinarian. 

When I took the PSU I had three careers in mind, including my principal interest: commercial engineering, psychology and public administration. 

I finally choose public administration because I realized that  between of those options, it was the only one that could give me the tools to become a contribution to the society. Public administrators are capable of managing and implementing political decisions in a good way. 

My online university experience has been a little bit chaotic. On one hand, i really like being home with my family, but in the other hand it feels strange not knowing the university and not knowing my classmates, friends, professors and university stuff in general. 

I’m really looking forward to go back to "normal life", to interact with others outside of the virtual reality.
